Karaoke Revolution Glee Volume 3 for Wii

It seems like as long as there is some sort of popular franchise, some company cashes in and makes Wii games about it. Because of this, it's not surprising that something as critically acclaimed as the television show Glee would also get its own game. In fact, ever since the television show first aired, I have heard fans left and right begging and pleading for someone to make a karaoke game about it — and for a show that sees well over the millions of fans mark, that is really some demand.

I'm not really a fan of the show itself, but I do enjoy some of the cover songs they air on there, so I thought I might have a little guilty fun with Wii Karaoke Revolution Glee Volume 3, where you can join Rachel, Kurt and Finn for hours of singing.

As it should be, the game is incredibly straightforward. You start the game and it throws you right into the thick of things. You can pick up to 30 different songs that have previously aired on the Glee television show, and the game comes with a microphone that you must use in order to sing along. Some of the songs that made the cut include "I Say A Little Prayer," "Somebody To Love," "Gold Digger," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Hate On Me" and "Push It." If you sing well, you will earn points, and if you sing poorly, you have a slushy thrown at your screen. You can also earn additional awards during the game, such as for the longest winning steak.

In all, you can pick two different gameplay modes. The first is Scrapbook mode, in which you are able to pick one of the actual Glee characters and sing their songs. Every character has a set number of differing songs, with Rachel and Mercedes each having ten songs and the remainder having fewer. In the second gameplay mode, Quick Play mode, you can just pick any of the songs right from the start.

No matter which mode you pick, you will get to see a video that accompanies the lyrics in the background. Each video contains scenes from the actual television show that have a direct relation to the song you are playing, and it even contains some unseen footage. Having this part included in the game really adds some depth, giving you a real sense like you are singing with the characters from the show.

Karaoke Revolution Glee Volume 3 really does well to reunite fans with the characters and songs they loved from season one, and you can have hours of fun and entertainment singing along. If you enjoy competition, you would do well to have someone join you in the multiplayer mode to see who the biggest Gleek in the family is.
